Bo Bice’s Tummy Troubles

Bo Bice can sing about his heart all he wants, but it’s his digestive system he should be concerned about.

The "American Idol" runner-up underwent emergency intestinal surgery Thursday in Nashville to hopefully correct a problem that has been plaguing him since last summer, according to a statement on Bice’s Website.

So far, three concert dates in Georgia, Florida and Anaheim, California, have been cancelled.

U2 Label Switcheroo

U2 has found what it’s looking forhas found what it’s looking for–a new home.

The Irish rockers have decided to bolt Universal Music Group’s Island Records, the label formerly owned by music impresario Chris Blackwell, who launched the band’s storied career over a quarter-century ago, and take up residence at Universal’s Mercury Records.



The split was said to be amicable and reportedly came about because of U2’s desire to maintain its relationship with music executive Jason Iley, who transferred from Island to Mercury last year.

Doherty Nixes Tour

For Pete Doherty to stay on the road to recovery he’s decided to keep his band off the road.


The Babyshambles singer and off-on beau of supermodel Kate Moss has nixed the remainder of his band’s 13-date U.K. tour to give himself more time to recover after leaving a London drug rehabilitation facility.

Buffett Bust

Memo to Parrotheads: Cheeseburgers in paradise, no problem; drugs in France, well, that’s another story…



Jimmy Buffett was briefly detained this week for allegedly having 100 tabs of Ecstasy in his luggage during a trip to the French Riviera.


The "Margaritaville" singer was allowed to leave after paying a $400 fine. His publicist claims the pills weren’t illegal, but were actually prescription medication.

Jackson Spy Sentenced

Who’s bad? That’s an easy one.



Jeffrey Borer, former owner of a charter jet company, was sentenced Wednesday to six months of home detention and placed on three years’ probation for conspiring to spy on Michael Jackson and former attorney Mark Geragos in November 2003 when the erstwhile King of Pop flew from Las Vegas to Santa Barbara to surrender on child-molestation charges.

U.S. District Judge A. Howard Matz also fined Borer $10,000 and ordered him to complete 150 hours of community service.

R. Kelly Sued

Forget the closet. A new lawsuit is accusing R. Kelly of trapping a former pal in the basement.



The trouble-magnet singer was on the receiving end of a suit Wednesday accusing him of roughing up a onetime employee as well as reneging on a royalty deal–allegations Kelly’s spokesman calls "a pathetic collection of half-truths, distortions and outright lies."



In the complaint, filed in Cook County Circuit Court, Henry "Love" Vaughn claims he served as "mentor and guide" to Kelly, 39, and was affectionately known as "Uncle Henry Love" by the singer. But the good vibes ended earlier this year, when, the lawsuit asserts, Vaughn was badly beaten in the cellar of Kelly’s suburban Chicago home.

The Material Girl got maternal Wednesday as officials in Malawi said she adopted a one-year-old boy shortly after arriving in the southeastern African country on a humanitarian mission to help the region’s impoverished AIDS orphans.

The Beatles Unleash "Love"

All you need for "Love" is a good computer and some classic tunes.

Coming together impossible to envision four decades ago, the Beatles are planning to release "Love," a new album that remixes and mashes up classic Beatles tunes along with outtakes, demos and song scraps never before released by the Fab Four under the guidance of the band’s legendary producer, George Martin, and his son, Giles.

The album, a spinoff of the Beatles-themed Cirque du Soleil show, is due in November.

Cohn Shooter Sentenced

A year after getting shot in the head, Marc Cohn is fully recovered and enjoying life with his newborn son. The future for the trigger man, however, is not nearly as peachy.

Joseph Yacteen, the Denver man who the Grammy-winning "Walking in Memphis" singer during a botched carjacking, has been sentenced to 36 years in prison.
